Introduction to the RISE Model of Literacy Intervention
The RISE model of intervention has been used in many of Lake Stevens' elementary schools and has been shown to have a positive impact on student reading growth. This module will provide an overview of the model and each station's components and is intended to complement school-based training for those instructing within the RISE model. You will need to have a copy of The Next Step Forward in Reading Intervention to refer to throughout this module.

Unpacking WIDA Scores to Inform Instruction
In this module, you will become familiar with your English Learners' WIDA scores, what they mean, and how you can use them to inform your work with these students within your classroom. You will also become familiar with the WIDA "Can Do" Descriptors to look at current skills and the next step for skills within the listening, speaking, reading, and writing domains.

AAC: Augmentative and Alternative Communication
"Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes all forms of communication (other than oral speech) that are used to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas. We all use AAC when we make facial expressions or gestures, use symbols or pictures, or write." This module will help you determine whether a student you are working with could benefit from an AAC tool, and provide you ideas for using that tool to grant access to and improve communication throughout the school day.

It will review basic programming, ways to integrate use into the classroom and give an overview of how to use the ChoiceWorks scheduling app and Pictello social story app that are often used by students who have Proloquo2Go.
