As we updated our list of recommended titles for our Elementary HiCap Booklist in 2020, our team felt it may also be helpful to have a tool to support students' discussions to go to a deeper level. We have purchased each elementary building sets of Depth and Complexity Student icon cards and a discussion starter spinner through the Center for Depth and Complexity, J Taylor Education.
This module is intended to be an introduction to these tools and get you started in thinking about how you may use them with your HiCap cluster, or your whole class, to push their thinking and discussion in new ways - hopefully, deeper and more complex ways!

In this module, you will learn about the LSSD HiCap program qualification process and structure, characteristics of gifted children, responsibilities of a HiCap teacher, and how to meet the needs of HiCap students. (This module has been updated as of 2023.)
